Some actions to take to improve WiFi strength:
- Unplug your router for 30 seconds, then plug it back in
- Move your router out into the open if it is inside a cabinet or other furniture
- Move your router or camera closer to each other
- Move your router or camera so that there is a direct line-of-sight between them
- Move or unplug electronic devices between the router and the camera
- Switch other devices such as PCs, TVs, and video game consoles to an ethernet connection.
- Switch other devices such as PCs, TVs, and video game consoles to a 5 ghz WiFi network while keeping your simplisafe devices on the 2.4 ghz WiFi network. (The SimpliSafe system is set to work with 2.4 GHz WiFi networks in order to provide wider coverage. 2.4 gHz penetrates walls and floors much better than 5 gHz networks.)
- Remove unused internet devices from your WiFi network
- Some routers have an option to broadcast on alternative “channels.” Check your router’s manual for more information.
- We recommend using channels 1, 6, or 11
- Install a WiFi extender between your router and the camera
- Please note: your WiFi connection will only affect cameras and Base Stations. All of our sensors communicate with the system using radio frequency. Installing a WiFi extender will not affect the connection strength or your sensors.

- Upgrade your existing router. Many older routers do not support modern device requirements. Contact your internet service provider for options
- Downgrade the camera’s video resolution. Visit the camera settings page to do this.
