Some Feedback from New User

Hi all,

I just installed a brand new Simplisafe system on my home to replace an old Chinese device that works well the time I had it but I want to get a refresh on technology and Simplisafe got excellent reviews on the Internet.

After installing the system I noted that it lacks of some basic features other system include such as:

1. Multi-language support for both the Keypad and the device.  I understand English very well but some of the members of my family not, so will be great if Multi language can be added in some future software release.

2. Monitoring and control of the system using the Smart Phone. I just spoke with support and they informed me that in order to monitor and control the alarm from my smart phone I need a subscription (B-). The problem is that I live on US territories and the Monitoring does not work here.  We need at least some means to see if someone brought into my house when I was away.

3. Door chime.  I like to be notified when someone enters my house while I'm on it.

The thing is that these suggestions are basic functions on the cheap Chinese products you can easily buy on Amazon for less than halve the price of this unit and I don't understand why a product like this, with the excellent reviews posted on the Internet lacks of those basic functionalities.

These can be easy fix with programming so I hope the next software release you will include some.

Best regards!

One of the Chinese products that you are referring to might better suit your needs.

Thank for the comment.

I had a Fortress unit sold by Amazon for almost five years, no complaints.

I chose this product for the good comments on the internet and for the information on its own SS page that states that you DO NOT NEED subscription to use the product.

This is obviously a misleading advertisement because they are not clear in saying that if you do not subscribe you can not do practically anything with it.

^ Where do you think simplisafe's components come from?  :)

1) Multi-Language is very unlikely; I doubt the hardware can support it.  Available in a choice of languages is possible, but don't hold your breath; it probably is not a priority and even the stuff they have as high priority are slow to arrive.

2)  SS is designed for PROFESSIONAL monitoring.  If you want to self monitor, then you need to buy a system which is designed for that.  SS can't do that and won't change, since their system is designed to be more hack resistant than any non-professional system.

3) SS has a chime when the system is off (the "chime" when the system is on is the siren).  SS3 external sirens can be set to issue the chime so you can put one where you need to hear the chime.  It is not very loud though.
