Smoke Detector in Woodshop Disable/Enable?

I have a wood shop with lots of tools I would like to protect when I am not there from fire.  Problem is I use a Laser to burn designs in wood so when the shop is in use I would need to disable the detector and then enable once work is completed and smoke cleared and I leave the shop.  Is anything like this possible?

@matrammell in general not a good idea due to saw dust in the air and if you don't clean the sensor regulary, could have problems. I have a combo smoke and CO sensor near my work area but take it out while I am working and then put it back there after I have cleaned up and done.

@captain11 Thank you, I didn't think about taking it out while I was working in the shop.  That will be easy enough to do in my small shop.

Hi @matrammell,

There is no way to disable/enable the Smoke Detector without taking it off its mounting bracket and then putting it back on later. And as Captain11 said, if there's a lot of saw dust and other particles in the air, the Smoke Detector could trigger false alarms if it isn't regularly cleaned. We recommend vacuuming the sensing chamber of the Smoke Detector at least once a month to prevent false alarms.

Thank you for the follow up.

@matrammell I clean my smoke and CO sensors on a scheduled bimonthly basis with cans of compressed air (purchased by the case from Costco that lasts years) and no issues with any of them.
