The SimpliSafe Smoke Detector may constantly chirp if the battery is inserted (or the battery tab removed) while the Test button is being held down. To stop the chirping please remove the battery and then reinsert it while making sure that the Test button is not being held down.
With regards to your second question, we have multiple contact centers across the United States. It's possible that the representatives that you spoke to were new as we have been growing quickly in advance of the holiday season. We'll make sure to review those calls and give additional training where necessary.
Have had smoke detector for many years. The battery finally started to beep. Hit the reset, it stayed quiet for about 12+ hours. Then beep. Ordered and replaced battery. This has lasted for about a week. Again beep! Does the unit itself only last for x amount of years? Do we need to get a new smoke detector? Lemme know.
Do you see a solid or blinking yellow light on your Smoke Detector while it's beeping? A solid yellow light indicates that the detector is not fully on its bracket and the solid light will also use up the battery much more quickly.
