Door Lock Key Pad not lighting up

I have two door locks with key pad.  The problem is that I would have sworn that they lit up when you got close to the pad so you could see the pad numbers.  Well my pads are not lighting up?  Not always easy to touch feel the pad to hit the right numbers. Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks

Hi @reelleisure,

Yes, the PIN Pads for the SimpliSafe Smart Lock do have a proximity sensor that allows the backlight to come on as someone approaches it. There are a few instances where that behavior will not occur, however. When the battery in the PIN Pad starts to get low, it will first no longer light up the backlight during the day or anytime that it is in a bright environment. As the battery in the PIN Pad gets even lower, the backlight will stop turning on as a way of preserving the remaining battery life. If you are experiencing any of these issues, try replacing the batteries in your PIN Pad to see if that resolves it.

I've got the same issue, but can't figure out how to open the battery compartment. The tool doesn't seem to be much help. Is there an online video?

@disotell the PIN Pad should be lighting up by the proximity sensor - so all you should need to do is stand near it to trigger. It might take a second or two before fully coming on.

But if it never lights up at all, no matter how long you stand in front of it, then there might be something wrong with the device that would require a replacement. Our Support team at 800-548-9508 can help with that!

My brand new pin pad will not light up either.  I will replace the battery anyway and see if I just got a bad battery and report back.
