Out door camera notifications when the alarm is off.

Indoor cameras have the option to turn the shutter off when the alarm is turned off for privacy. I want that same privacy out doors!

The Outdoor Camera was designed to be 'Always On' and have the ability to detect and warn of intruders approaching the home, regardless of the system's state. I'd be happy to share your suggestion with our development team, as others have shared this interest as well.

Please do share that with your development team.  Based on other's comments and my feelings about the function of the outdoor camera's, I know I will be looking for other solutions.

thanks

Another day goes by with unwanted alerts. This will get soon get old and You won't see me on the form anymore because I will have a different system installed.

I turned mine off when I’m in the backyard using the Simplisafe app.

it takes 5 minutes to shut all my cameras off when my family goes outside, which is almost daily. It’s a hassle.

the real security issue comes when I forget to turn all the cameras motion sensors back on! Which I will likely do several times as the day gets busy and I forget.

I truly wish there could be an easy option to select specific cameras and shut them off for an allotted time. 30 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours etc. then after the allotted time, the cameras turn back on. Then I know I when I go to sleep, all the cameras will be on, even if I forget to manually do it myself.

It would be nice, when I walk outside and get a motion notification on my phone, I can click on it and from there select all the cameras or specific ones and time out the cameras for a few hours while I cut the grass or the kids are running around. Please help!

New to simplisafe. My outdoor camera is on and recording me while system is off. I do not want to camera to record me while I am working in the yard and I don't want to change the record settings every time I turn my system on and off. This seems like a major issue and hope simplisafe gets there expensive outdoor cameras figured out.

So you go into preferences and change it every time you arm the system? And you like it?

Didn’t say I like it or hate it. Just not a big deal for me. It’s like a daily routine to turn off the security system when I wake up. it only takes less than a minute to turn off my 5 cameras.

I also agree. I do want my front door camera to act as the admin mentioned always on. However for my back door camera I don’t want notifications every time I’m sitting on my patio. I wouldn’t even mind if it were recording, I just want the option to turn of notifications.

Yeah, we get it imrnet.  We all know how to do it.  You're not using some fancy trick we all don't know about.  I'm guessing you don't walk in front of you camera much.  And I'm also guessing you only have one camera.  I have 5 outdoor cameras and it unesessarily tedious to turn off motion alerts everytime I need to do yard work.  A simple boolean built into the app to honor the alarm state is an extremely simple solution.  The outdoor cameras should work just like glass break sensors.

Alarm state on: Use the camera motion setting.

Alarm state home : Use the camera motion setting.

Alarm state off : Do not trigger on motion.

I have multiple cameras also but it’s not a big deal for me. It only take a minute. I have all the time in the world, but good luck with your request.

Agreed, please add option to have motion detection off when alarm is off, like the indoor cameras.

Asking the about changing the outdoor cameras to have the option to NOT alert when the system is disarmed. NOT even getting the courtesy of a response.

@Murphy_12 There is an area here in the forum to submit requests for new features, services etc.  BTW, how did you submit your request, a posting, email, call?

@captain11 I will give that a try.

Hi @Murphy_12 ,

We did respond to a similar question from you here. But yes, the request is a popular one and has been forwarded to our engineering team. At this time, I have not yet heard from the engineering team that it is in development, but I will keep the community updated when I do.

@davey_d thanks for the reply. Any help you could give on advocating for us would be really appreciated. This is my top feature request with the outdoor cameras.

Please fix this soooonnnn....It cannot happen that every time I am in my yard the cameras have to be recording and using the internet, nor can it be that I have to manually disable the motion sensor for each camera or disable notifications every time I leave my garage or my yard or walk around etc..
They have to create a way to disable the cameras if the alarm is off, to work only on demand or some way so that this is not so frustrating and boring.
