Here's a thought

Hey SS, how's about making your code open source.   Perhaps that way, real programmers could straighten out the mess you've made.

@cornholio given we pay $ to SS to keep us secure, open source code doesn't sound like a wise thing to do.  Provide a path to more integration to IoT devices, sure, but in a secure way.

@captain11   I pay $70+ for two houses, and don't feel secure with the constant disconnects, dropped wifi, etc.         Maybe open source doesn't seem wise to you, but others may think it is worth a shot.

There's no inherent security advantage or disadvantage; open source is "securable". I use it and it very secure in my case.

It's "actual security" is a shared responsibility between project maintainers and users, who must actively assess risks, maintain their codebases, and implement best practices for managing open-source components.

Better usually, more eyes on the software than a typical company's developers alone.

If a closed company such as this one went open source, all those features everyone wants would get added, quickly, "within the capability of existing hardware", power, memory, speed, functionality.

Might end the company though, much better options are available.

@cornholio  You need or want open source, DIY, look at Home Assistant, free software too. 😁

Open source is about the only way a person can have "almost" every feature or device, they want. But you gotta do it all yourself.

I'm retired, so I have the time.

I still arm SS sensors. I own them until they fail, why not?🤷 SS leak sensor went off at 3AM last night.😵😵‍💫🤣

Alarmo entry sensor in HAOS & and an SS entry sensor set off the followup alarms, simultaneously when she sleepily opened the inner basement door and didn't disarm either. LOL

She appreciates my DIY security efforts and hates it at the same time.🤔😅

SS sensors generally speaking, work ok here "inside the house".

My $850 worth of outdoor cameras and doorbells?..."Useless for security" here at my house, some may disagree of course.🤔😉😁 That's fine with me.

@dlpsr Gonna have to agree with you on all points.   The open source programs that I use are very secure.   As far as Home Assistant, I could do that after I do all of my wife's Huny Do list.   I was a programmer/Sys Admin/Network guy for decades.   Windows/Unix/Linux. I appreciate your reply. Thank you.
