Battery Powered Video Doorbell

Does SimpliSafe have plans in place to provide a battery powered video doorbell?  My house was built in 2017 and there is no power for a door bell installed.  I currently have two security equipment subscriptions, one with SimpliSafe and an other with Ring just for their battery powered doorbell.  Ring also provides all the other equipment I use so seriously considering canceling my subscription with SimpliSafe and going with Ring unless SimpliSafe intends to introduce a battery powered doorbell soon.  Thanks

@msmmym83 We have submitted a product request to our dev team for a wireless, battery powered doorbell, but at this time we do not have any updates from the team. When we hear any news, we will let everyone know in this thread in the Community.

Can we get an update on the matter? The forums have had this issues posted for over 4 years with no news. Can we get a timeline.  Some folks cannot install a hardwire doorbell for several reasons, i.e., lease doesn't allow it, expense is not justifiable. I have had a system for some time now and would love a battery powered doorbell; it is the only thing my system is missing. Also, the lack of a battery only doorbell would not be an issue, if no one else offered one, but SimpliSafe is the only one who doesn't.

Also, @simplisafe_admin, here is a link to a long time running forum, requesting the battery powered doorbell.

This post was first made in 2020. There has been no update. Kind of losing faith that SimpliSafe listens to its costumers.

still need a battery powered video doorbell for my simplsafe system. will either purchase another type of camera or switch to a different system altogether. since I tend to be away for more than 30 days at a time and have no way to bring power to the door, I require a battery. the additional features of a well designed video doorbell might just outweigh brand loyalty. oh well.

@wbmcilvaine While we do not offer a wireless Video Doorbell, it sounds like our Outdoor Security Camera may fulfill your needs? It is battery powered, and offers two-way audio.

Is a lack of patent rights to wireless doorbell??? Outdoor cameras are great and I have them, but they don’t ring like a doorbell

Although I just was shipped a no cost starter kit for SimpliSafe - the lack of a battery only switch only is a hard stop - I will not install or purchase additional sensors for this unit.   Their Loss not mine ...

Been waiting for a batt doorbell for months to be developed /released.

Other providers such as Swann and Ring also have benefits of pre recorded messages etc and no software update for this either , that is really helpful for couriers etc.

As like other people on this thread, I have no way of wiring in your doorbell to my front garden. This is incredibly frustrating as do not wish to purchase a different subscription when I already pay for your pro in the UK

Amazon sells a power supply that plugs in to a wall receptacle and converts 120 V house current to the current and voltage required for simlpisafe doorbell if you don't have an existing wired doorbell. might be a solution.

Amazon sells a device that plugs in to a regular 120 V outlet and converts it to the right current etc for a SimpliSafe video doorbell. so if you have an outlet near the door, this might work for you. Will try it soon.

Hi @@DEBPOWELL

Whilst this response does not answer your question as to when we will offer a battery powered doorbell, we do have an alternative power solution for our doorbell so that you do not have to manage multiple subscriptions, and you won't have to worry about recharging batteries.

It's a DIY power supply with a plug in transformer, and offers a wireless digital chime.
You can purchase just the Power Supply, or with the Chime too.
The power supply is offered on our site. The chime will need to be purchased through our sales team.

Here is a guide on the product too.
