App should notify user if camera disconnected

Sometimes my camera loses connection with my Wi-Fi router after a power outage. (It has happened repeatedly.) That's not a big deal by itself, but it really bothers me that my SimpliSafe app doesn't tell me the camera is disconnected. 

Here are some example screenshots. Right now, my camera is disconnected. I know it's disconnected because I ran a manual connection check and got this result:

But my app acts like nothing is wrong! The app knows the camera has a low battery, but it doesn't alert me that it's disconnected. Instead, my overview screen says, "Everything is OK."

The app doesn't even realize there's a camera problem when it tries to use the camera. For example, my camera was automatically activated by an unrelated temperature alarm. The event log says "1 recording" (even though there isn't a recording) and doesn't tell me there's "No Video" unless I click to watch the non-existent recording.

Even if I go into the settings of that specific camera, it doesn't notify me of any problem. It repeats the warning about the camera's low battery, but it doesn't tell me that the camera is disconnected. (It also shows an old thumbnail from when the camera was working in the past, which further obscures the fact that the camera isn't working right now.)

My "suggestion" – actually more of a "demand" – is that the app should notify me automatically when my camera is disconnected. Otherwise, I don't learn that it's not working until I realize that the camera didn't record something that it should have. (And that's too late, because the camera might have missed recording something important!)

Technical details:

  • I'm running SimpliSafe app version 7.59.1 on Android 16
  • The camera is running software version v1.46.4.27078
  • My base station is running firmware version 2.21.4.6
  • I would have included the base station and camera types/series/versions/generations, but the app doesn't show me that information either, as far as I can tell.
