Using without Monthly Monitoring Subscription

Can you still monitor your home yourself thru the app without the monthly subscription?

Good question.  Have you had a response yet?  I installed a simplisafe system this weekend in our vacation home and now that I'm 2.5 hrs away from it, I cannot check the status of the system on my phone.  Not sure if this is because I didn't sign up for the monthly monitoring subscription or something else has gone wrong. I just keep getting a message saying "Unable to get settings from your Base Station. Check your Base Station or try again."

Just called customer service, they said without the monitoring plan you cannot check on the status of the system. So you pretty much have to signup for the plan if you want to do anything useful with the system.

You can't use the phone app without the Interactive Monitoring Plan.
