Capabilities with no monitoring plan

I was looking at getting a Simplisafe system as it gave the option of self monitoring or professional monitoring. If I read and understand the FAQs correctly, without the optional (pro) monitoring it doesn't really do much at all. It wont sent alerts to the app, you can't arm or disarm the system from the app, etc.

Maybe I'm missing something but what good is it if you don't opt into the additional monitoring?

@dilexa1924 unfortunately, you read it correctly, however, I encourage you to give the SS solution a try. At 24.99, plus the acquisition cost of the equipment, it is the best value in the industry. Yes, I am a loyal customer of almost 9 years, but will say even with shortcomings SS is the best. I have personally recommended and placed over 24 systems to family, friends, neighbors etc and all would buy again.

You do have the 60 day (from order) no questions asked return policy too.  

Finally, please note, the system will alarm and sound off the base and aux siren(s) if it tripped, so at least you get that without monitoring.
