Base not announcing the doors or rooms when opened

It will not announce the name of the door or entry sensor that is opened or triggered unless its on test mode then it will say what sensor it is. If you trigger the alarm once you turn it off it will then say what sensor triggered it. But if its armed and you ooen door or what ever sensor it will not announce it. I wish they would have it to announce what sensor is opened when alarm is off like front door, or back door but thats a no go.

How is this disappointing?  In home or away mode if a door or window are opened the alarm should be sounding.  Why would you want it to instead announce that a door was open?  Makes no sense to me.

I would like to know at which entry point the alarm is coming from.. just my preference. Also, the alarm does not sound immediately. I would rather know which way to run before an intruder reaches me. I don't see your point of view either but there is no need to be rude.

Wasn't trying to be rude, but I guess I come off that way some times.  :)  Just trying to understand.  I have a few thoughts on this.  Number one, most of your sensors *should* be on instant trigger so the alarm sounds the very moment a problem occurs.  If you have all of your sensors set to delay I would highly suggest changing that.  Unless you are a very light sleeper you may not hear the beeps at first and 30 seconds is a life time during something like that.  Typically the only sensor that would have a delay would be the one you come in through to enter your home the most, which gives you time to disable the alarm when its in away mode.  For home mode, most people would not have a delay on that entry door, unless its really needed.  To take it a step further, there are other ways to enter now, smart lock, phone app, or keyfob which means you could have instant trigger setup all the time since you would not need to enter first to disable the system.  Lastly, the base station was designed to go silent and invisible during an event so a *smart* bad guy can't find it and disable it during that initial 30 seconds.  

I can see why you would want it that way, but I think it goes against what the majority would be needing and SS doesn't seem to customize much beyond servicing the masses.  I think the keypad will show the sensor in question, but I'd have to test that to say for sure.

I completely understand why you'd want to know which sensor has been tripped, especially in home mode. My current alarm system (which I am about to replace) does announce which sensor, which helps me immensely when I'm home alone with my autistic child. It helps because I can tell if he's trying to leave the house unattended, and it helps me know if we're vulnerable to an intruder when we're focused on therapy or schoolwork or a fun game.

I'd also venture to say all of the elderly people I know who get security systems would agree, knowing where an intruder is entering the home is valuable info.

It's so important to me to have that feature, that, seeing this thread, I'm now re-thinking getting SimpliSafe.

Does anyone know if the app provides the sensor-triggered information? And/or does the app even work without the $25/mo monitoring?

And does anyone know if SimpliSafe ever responds directly to the forum, or is it just users helping users?

Ss responds very rarely. I know for sure the text alerts will show the sensor name and im fairly sure the push notifications do as well.  However, they will show nothing until the alarm is blaring. They will not report the start of a count down.  Secret alerts can be setup to notify you of an open sensor even when system is off, but when using them in that mode they dont work to trigger the alarm. The app is only available with the 25 dollar plan.

Ss is a great system, but may not suit your needs.

One simple answer, get a second keypad for your bedroom, for next to the elderly family member's bed, etc etc.  Sensors that are open will show on the keypad display (it's a triangle icon with an exclamation point inside of it - this is with SS3).  Is it a bit more expensive?  Sure, but for better peace of mind....

What colt said, as i have 3 keypads, one by garage door, one in master bedroom and one by the front door so we will hear any beeping or see anything on keypad.
