SimpliSafe Camera Sound Issue

Hello

I am having an issue with a new camera, I am getting a constant static cracking sound over the audio.  I have great video and a strong network signal.  I changed 2.4 GHz channels and did not help.  I rebooted the camera multiple times same issue.   It will also drop the network connection after about 5 minutes of live viewing. Is there a fix or do I have a defective camera?

Sounds like your camera is working like everyone else's.  My 2 cameras have never had the audio working since I installed them.  One was brand new and the other one was refurbished.  If you search through the forum pages you will see you are not alone in your frustrations.  My Ring cameras have great video AND audio all of the time.

I have this exact issue. I would describe it as a fluttering sound. And the camera "disconnects' from WiFi after about the same amount of time.

I see there are NO replies from Simplisafe regarding the horrible audio on their cameras and the super loud screeching while watching the cameras live.  This does not bode well.  It shows really bad customer service from Simplisafe.

Same issue. Lots of folks on Reddit experiencing it as well.

When I do a live view with my simplicam it sounds like a geiger counter.  I contacted them and after quite some time they decided to send a replacement.  Unfortunately, the new one does the same.  I have a fairly new eero wifi and they said if my problem continues I probably need a different wifi.  Um, no way

@nborin2000 we've seen this issue reported before. From what I'm getting from our engineers, especially since you've tried two different cameras in the same spot, the issue might just be that the cameras are picking up on a sound that isn't normally audible to humans - and because of data compression, it shows up in the recording. It's possible that the noise will disappear if you put the camera in a different spot.

I'm having the same issue with our indoor camera. I contacted support and they sent me a new camera but same problem.

I have tried various locations and some that were dead silent rooms and it sounds exactly the same in each place.

I’ve had that same issue with the cameras since I purchased SimpliSafe. That cracking sound never goes away.

I have one indoor camera, and experiencing the same static noise that’s being discussed in this thread. Another odd thing is voices. With the static it’s hard to understand. I am unsure why there’s voices in my recording because no one was home. Is it possible this voice picked up from somewhere?

@EricaDLusk almost sounds to me like it's picking up radio signals! Are you comfortable sharing a sample of your video here?

Turns out it stems from my settings. I have 24/7 monitoring and the voice I heard was the control center asking if everything was okay. :)

 I appreciate the follow up!

We have the same problem with camera sounding like a geiger counter on live view. The cracking and sometimes ticking is nuts! We moved the camera to three different rooms across the house and tried live view from the post office miles away to see if it is because we are "too close", but nope, it continues. Bought the camera and now regret it. We switched to SimpliSafe from another alarm company we had for over a decade. Cheaper is not always better! With all these reports of camera noise malfunctions (yes, it IS a malfunction and not undetectable to human ears sounds since it did not happen with our previous setup ) you'd think the company would FIX the problem. Instead they stahl and make up stories about ghost sounds.
