Announce which door chime was set off

I have the door chime feature on and I hear the notice when a door or window opens. In test mode, the base actually announces which sensor was triggered. Is there a way to set the door chime to announce the device name in the same way? So it would basically say something like "front door open"

can the base station announce which alarm is triggered?

To my knowledge the system doesn't have this feature - but seems like a nice feature to have. When you are arming the system and inadvertently leave a door open, it will tell you which door. I believe it tells you on the keypad as well as with a verbal announcement.

The only thing keeping me from getting SS is this lacking feature. I have an unmonitored ADT system that does this exact thing. Everything about it is ugly imo. But this one feature is the most helpful. I have a son with special needs. He elopes (runs off without notice). I need to know which door was open as to not waste time running from one end of the house to the other. Make it happen, and you will have a new customer.

The SimpliSafe system doesn't quite have that feature that you describe.

But if you have the All New SimpliSafe system, paired with Interactive Monitoring, you can set your sensors to Secret Alert. When the system is disarmed, you'll get a Smart Alert (including the sensor's given name) whenever a door is opened.

Johnny M., is this a feature that could be added with a software update? I also agree this would be a nice feature.

I need this feature as well.  The announce feature already exists when in TEST MODE.  Try it out yourself.  When in TEST MODE and you trigger the sensor, it will announce the name.  Why not have this same feature when in any other mode.  There should be a simple option in the interface for

I dont want to get a secret TEXT each time, I just want the announcement especially if I'm upstairs and I hear a "front door" vs "patio" vs "window" etc

Announce:
  - Chime VS. Named Sensor

I had Frontpoint before this and although Simplisafe has other cool features.. this is a BASIC one! :)

The problem with secret alert now also is that if you turn it ON, the Chime is OFF and you will only get a text.  Give the users this feature please!!

I agree this would be a great update to the system! I love that my past system, Vivint, has this ability. If someone does break in while I'm home it would help me choose my exit strategy and know how to get out or which way to defend myself from.

This is a deal-breaker for my wife. We currently have ADT and it will verbally announce which door is being opened when the system is not set. If she is home and someone enters the house she knows which door they are entering from. Does this keep her any safer? Maybe, maybe not. The intruder is already in the house by then. But she really likes it, it is a function that we already have, and it provides fairly useful information to the owner.

I'd rather go with SimpliSafe. It looks just as good to me with cheaper monitoring. It can't be that hard to add  programming such that the system announces "front door", "back door", or "garage door" instead of the generic "entry door". Get this request over to your techies and get it done.

Yes!!! Get it done please! I have a 3 story house with 6 entry doors plus garage. I really need to know which entry is being opened. Not only for an intruder but for my children's safety.

100% pure rocket science to SS. A feature thats widely available on other systems and has been forever. I was hopeful the SS3 would finally have it but no dice

I guess so. It seems like a basic function to me. I suppose I could just cancel my ADT monitoring service, but leave the sensors and panel in place to get the specific door opening announcement. Then order the SimpliSafe system to take advantage of the much more reasonable monitoring fees. Assuming SimpliSafe's monitoring fees don't get raised the system will pay for itself in less than year.

Does anyone know how long the monitoring service has been $14.99? When was the last time it was raised? Not being locked into a contract is nice, but I usually find that once I'm out of a contract with a utility provider the fees go up. (I'm looking at you cable and internet.) Ideally, I'd like no contract with a locked in monitoring fee rate, but can't have it all.

Do you own the ADT equipment or is it leased and if you stop paying the monthly charge have to return it?

The fees have been 14.99 and 24.99 for several years (as long as I've been using them.  They had a 19.99 plan as well, but discontinued it.

Has this been added as a feature yet?

I desire this function as well.

Seems like it wouldn't be too hard to add. I want this feature as well.

I sure hope that this feature is added soon. Since it announces the name when you arm the system an an entry sensor is open, it should be able to instead of a simple door chime as well. If added, it would also be nice to even have the option per individual sensor to chime or announce the name just as you can set each sensor to be instant alarm or trigger the entry delay.

My wife wants a variant of this feature, where only an individual sensor creates a chime. We have a detached garage and need to be notified when it's door is opened (when the alarm is off), but chimes on all the other doors drive her nuts!

Hope SimpliSafe and work additional chime controls into a future release.

dartz_1, maybe not what she is looking for, but you could set that individual sensor up for secret alert in off mode in addition to normal alarm functions for away or home. Then she would have to rely on a push notification from the SS app on her phone.

I just purchased the system and noticed that it does not have this feature (which my current system has). I don't think I can live without it. I will most likely be returning Simplisafe system because it does not look like the feature is under development.

Yes, I thoroughly agree.
This would be a useful feature and presumably not difficult to implement.

My previous system through Vivint had this feature for each of the last three years.  It would be nice to have access to it again.
