The button for my doorbell is mounted on an adjacent wall rather than on the door frame itself. Will the field of view on this device be able to provide me with an image from this side view?
Without a picture its hard to say. I would put your phone where the doorbell would be and take a picture. This will give you a general idea of what you're going to see. The doorbell likely has a wider field of view than your phone, but this will give you a starting point. Plus, you can return it if it doesnt work out.
