outdoor camera not recording at night

We have two outdoor cameras.  Both have stopped recording at night.  My husband's truck was broken into the other night but there is no evidence as the camera was not working.  I've tried adjusting the settings the past three nights, but once the alarm is set, nothing record

Hi @sheryls14,

This is certainly concerning, and something we would want to look into ASAP. Since you mentioned an incident, I have escalated your case to our Specialist team. A senior agent will reach out to you soon to provide further assistance, so please keep an ear out for their call.

Thank you Emily.  The cameras work fine during the day.  I get notifications all day long.  But once the alarm has been set, nothing.

After a week of trouble shooting, changing the network, adding a booster, I'm still having the same issue.  Records fine during the day but does not record at night.  Have tried setting and not setting the alarm and still not recording after dark.

@sheryls14The Outdoor Camera’s motion detection is a two-step process. First, its infrared motion sensor picks up on heat signatures moving around within its field of view. And then, if People Only motion detection is turned on, the camera looks for human-shaped objects.

As Dlpsr said, what may be happening here is that your camera is installed too high and isn’t able to make out any human-shaped objects. It can help to temporarily lower the camera to see if that helps with its motion detection at night. The camera’s motion sensor is also most sensitive to lateral motion, so placing it in an area where it has a more sideways view of motion can help as well.

But if adjusting the camera’s placement doesn’t help, we may need to replace that camera entirely. Our Support team, or the senior agent who reached out to you, can help with that.

I don't know what you've been troubleshooting already with the inside people,  but either the IR sensors are defective or they're mounted too high.

30 feet+- detection in day and about 10-12+- feet max probably at night. If mounted about 8-12 feet high.

Angle and height might matter. I can reach some of mine.
