Outdoor camera motion sensor question

Hi all,

I looked but couldn't find anything so here I am: 
Does anyone know how long the "reset" time period is between detection and lack of motion before it will detect motion again?

Hi @moreyag, 

Just to confirm, is this regarding the Outdoor Camera? As mentioned by Captain11, the Motion Sensor is intended for indoor use only.

But regarding the Outdoor Camera, once it detects motion it will begin recording for at least 10 seconds, and if there is continual motion the camera will continue to record. Once motion is no longer detected, the Outdoor Camera will stop recording. But if one recording ends and then soon after the Outdoor Camera detects motion again, it should only take a few seconds for it to begin recording again.

@moreyag Are you talking about the outdoor camera? Or are you talking about a standalone motion sensor? if the latter, please know that motion sensors are for indoor use only and will not work properly outdoors. If the outdoor camera, a reset should be acknowledged by the base and should only take seconds.

Thanks all. I should have included the word "camera" in the title. Yes, the outdoor camera sensor. For some reason, now it's stopped detecting motion. Checked and reset all the settings- image is fine, livestream works, but no motion detection. I turned it off when we're home, and just turned it back on and nothing. Set to max sensitivity and detect all. :(

@moreyag​ I know you've reset the Outdoor Camera's settings, but have you tried resetting the Outdoor Camera itself? You can do that by pressing and holding the button on the back of the Outdoor Camera for 30 seconds. Once you release the button, the camera should chime and prompt you to set it up again in the SimpliSafe mobile app. 

If a reset does not help, we would want to look at the placement of the Outdoor Camera. This guide in our Help Center lists out important mounting instructions for the Outdoor Camera to ensure it detects motion successfully.
