Netgear Orbi50 and Doorbell

I currently have a Simplisafe system.  I did not purchase the doorbell because I already owned a Ring doorbell.  I recently upgraded to a Netgear Orbi
system with a RBR50 router and a satellite.   The doorbell keeps dropping.  Anybody have this router and a simplisafe doorbell that works with no issues or dropping?  I would like to know before I purchase one.

Really sounds like a internet speed situation. You should download the speedtest.net app(by OOKLA) on a smartphone(or tablet) then connect the smartphone(or tablet) to your Netgear Orbi (used for your doorbell cam) then test the internet speed. The result for the 'upload' speed is what matters(it "uploads" the live/recorded video stream through the internet). For most Ring devices you're hoping for around 2 mbps(megabits per second, a measurement unit for internet speed).

I've read of some smart home items like doorbells and switches having a problem with systems like Orbi because they use one SSID for both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz.  I am not saying that this is the problem, but it might be something to look into.  I have a Ring doorbell that does ok with my ASUS Zen WiFi that uses one SSID.

I have the Netgear RBR40 Orbi router and Simplisafe doorbell. The router is upstairs and I have "moderate" strength. No issues. I also have a camera in the same room as the doorbell, a little farther (15') away..same connection status, but it does drop on rare occasions. Planning on a satellite Orbi for the 1st floor someday, but in general, no issues.

Be careful of a satellite.  It appears the issue that the ring doorbell has is if the doorbell is on one and the phone is on the other. You need to have the doorbell and the phone on the router or both on the satellite

Well, that sucks, if true.  The whole point of Orbi mesh system is to be able to walk around your house without interruption!

Recent issues with existing SimpliSafe door bell and new Orbi mesh system....doorbell cam would absolutely would NOT connect to the Orbi mesh signal. Researched multiple "fixes" (reprogramming to split the signal, too complicated - walking away form house until 5GHz signal dropped, connected to 2.4GHz signal to prgram camera with app - didn't work). EASY FIX: piggy backed old router to new orbi, created dedicated 2.4GHz signal with new name (different from orbi signal SSID) connected simplisafe system to that signal, VOILA. Camera is fine now. Way easier than all the other nonense, at least until SimpliSafe fixes their cmaeras to work with a mesh system. Hope that helps!

@jtnmich​ this sounds similar to something I already suggest sometimes:

Creating a guest network with just the 2.4GHz band enabled.

Since the way that WiFi works is that if multiple networks have the same SSID and password, then devices will treat them the same; having a separate name for this secondary network helps prevent the devices from getting confused.
