How to get App for monitoring camera on my home computer

The web site says I can monitor the camera on my home computer. I can't find the app. Where is it located? I have it on my Iphone but can't find it for my desk computer.
I understand that there is a $19.99 charge per month for live camera monitoring. Is it more if I add another camera?
What is the range on the fob control?

@wjones_4, for your home computer you use the simplisafe.com web site. Log into your account and you will be in the dashboard.  If you have multiple cameras (even if not) I highly recommend the 24.99 plan. (interactive or total command or whatever SS Marketing calls it now)  Simply, the best bargain in town.

On it you can have up to 10 cameras (Thanks Johnny M for that piece of information), and have total control of you system from arming and overall mgt.)

The keyfob, when I tried it (don't usually use it, like in never) worked from the middle of our culdesac to where the base is located.  (Say at least 75 feet). Don't know the official range.

If you have more questions and its a weekday, SS should respond with a post; if not, call support.

Hi wjones_4,

First, you should know that if you have only one SimpliCam, and it's running as a standalone unit, the Camera Subscription is only $4.99. If you want the subscription for 4 or more SimpliCams, that's when the price is $19.99.

Using the SimpliCam on your PC or Mac does not require any special software. Just log into your Dashboard here: www.simplisafe.com/login.
Then you can head to the ‚ò∞ Menu on the left, and select Cameras.

As for the Keyfob - since it is a smaller component, it does have a shorter range than some of the others. But even then it should still be effective within about 200ft of the Base Station.

19.99 for 4 cameras?  I thought that more than 1 camera came with an automatic upgrade to the 24.99 plan, and that the 19.99 plan had been discontinued.

@sevensiamesecats

To clarify, it's $19.99 for the Camera Subscription if you have only SimpliCams and no system monitoring plan.

You're right, if you have more than one SimpliCam subscribed along with the $14.99 plan, you'll end up spending almost $24.99 anyway, so we might as well just give you the full benefits of Interactive Monitoring as well.

I am switching to SS3 and already have the paid monitoring plan. Do I need to cancel this current plan, which I just paid for the next month, get a credit and then reactivate the new system. I want to do this right the first time and not get bogged down in all the back and forth b.s.

The old system has worked great for me no complaints like I've read others have had.

If you're upgrading to an All New SimpliSafe, all you need to do is update the Base Station Serial Number online:
  1. Log into your account at www.simplisafe.com.
  2. Look on the ‚ò∞ Menu on the left.
  3. Click Activate Monitoring.
  4. Select Upgrade Existing Service.

This will continue your current Monitoring Service, and the only difference is that it'll be looking for signals from your new system.

I thought with one camera the app would be free

Camera live viewing & motion alert is included with the camera. You need a subscription if you want to have the recording feature activated.

The app is free for my iPhone.  The monitoring fee is $15.  With one camera it's $5.00 more; two cameras another $5.00 which makes it $25 the most you'll pay for SS.  So if you get more than two cameras its still $25.  If all you want is recording for your one camera it would only be $5.  Or is it $5.99?  I can't remember but something like that.  You can still use the camera to check in on the location but it won't record until you pay the fee.  IMO the camera's motion detection is not very good but if someone walks within 4 ft. of it it will alert you even without the monthly fee.

I still haven't been able to find the menu in the corner of the website to monitor on my MacBook.  My phone app works fine.

I've noticed other camera vendors include one to several days free cloud storage of their video camera recordings.  Does Simplisafe have any options like this or are they planning to offer any in the near future?  Also, are there any plans to allow customers to record to a local hard drive (home network, connected to router, etc.) vs. cloud or Simplisafe location?  Thanks.  Gary.

SS does not have any free video storage.
If your on the $24.99/mo  monitoring plan, it includes 30 days storage for up to 10 cameras.
If your on a lower or no plan, they offer video storage for $4.99/mo. per camera.

I doubt they will ever offer local storage.

I dropped a suggestion a while back that allowing connection to the camera from other systems might open up an additional revenue stream. Whether anyone from SS saw that, or will see this, I have no idea.

Is there any software that works with the SimpliSafe cameras, such as Blue Iris?

No. Only SS software works with SS cameras.

I've been trying but have not found how yet. Sure doesn't seem to respond to ONVIF probes.

Maybe in the future their can be a arm or disarm led on the key fob when the signal is complete . I wonder some times when i leave or come home If i activated or deactivated my system , seeing i travel thru my garage to the house my entry is a distance from the key pad. Just a thought.

Use the app to see status?

I can record from the SimpliSafe app on my cellphone. When I sign into my SS account on my desktop, I can view live but there is no microphone nor is there the ability to record.

How can I make it record from both, the cellphone AND the desktop if I am on there? It will not zoom on the desktop, either.

$24.99 plan. Original SS.

Hi @doveydog,

Are you looking for instructions on how to view your cameras' live stream on a desktop or laptop? This can be done by taking the following steps:

  1. Go to webapp.simplisafe.com and log into your SimpliSafe account
  2. On the navigation bar on the left side of the screen, select Cameras
  3. Find the camera you want to watch a live stream through, and click the play button ▶️
