Hi @Castro_257 ,

The Video Doorbell Pro has an internal, non-removable battery that is mainly used for supporting certain functions. But it's not meant for fully powering the device for an extended period of time.

The unit should be installed into a wired mechanical doorbell system, for both sound, and power.

@gssampson​ The wired doorbell that your Video Doorbell is connected to should keep it charged, but if you're getting a message that its battery is low that means it isn't getting enough power. A Chime Connector can help to ensure that your Video Doorbell is receiving the proper voltage to power it. If you contact our Support team they can send you one.

I have had my doorbell cam for 5 years now, not sure it makes sense that suddenly it is not getting the right power all of a sudden.  Is it possible the internal battery is no longer able to be recharged?

@tarogo​ If your Video Doorbell had been successfully powered for multiple years and its setup hasn't recently changed, then this could be related to its hardware. Our Support team will be able to take a deeper look into your account and replace the device if needed.

Thats what happened to me. I'm possibly looking at having to buy a new doorbell for the 2nd time. This is not a good product

I have had my Simplisafe doorbell for a few years, and all of a sudden I am getting a notification that the battery is running low.  I don't believe that this is a battery I can change.  What exactly should I do?

@juliebarys1​ Correct, the Video Doorbell Pro does have a small battery inside, but it cannot be removed from the device. 

If you received a message that the Video Doorbell Pro's battery is low, that would mean that it isn't getting enough power anymore. We offer a Chime Connector that helps supply the Video Doorbell Pro with the proper amount of power. If you contact our Support team, they can send you one free of charge.

@iowa28​ Just to confirm, are you experiencing the same issue as others in this thread where there is a notification that its battery is low, or is it unable to connect to your system altogether? 

If you have received a message that the doorbell's battery is low, that would indicate that it's no longer receiving enough power. In that case, a Chime Connector can help to supply the Video Doorbell with the proper voltage. Our Support team can send one to you free of charge! 

But if that is not what you are experiencing, let me know and we can continue to troubleshoot further.

I bought it thinking it was like any other doorbell that I have had. NOT having to hardwire in.  This is useless to me now.  My wiring for doorbell is broken.  NOT about to spend a ton of money for an electrician to come out and fix wiring for this.

@tburty11 Yes, our Video Doorbell Pro does require pre-existing doorbell wiring to power the device. We do have a 60-day return policy. If you fall within that window, you can always contact our Support team and our agents can start the return process.
