Doorbell Camera

Does SimpliSafe have plans to release a doorbell Camera? Almost all of your competitors have this feature.

The Video Doorbell Pro is available now for US customers! Check it out here.

@calvin.croucher, at CES, SS did show a doorbell camera, plus outdoor cameras; not shown but announced was also a connected door lock.  You can watch the video review below with their CEO.  In it, he says the doorbell is about two months out.  Looks pretty neat.

Any word on a release date? If not soon, I'm going to have to find a different security system

Same here. 2nd qtr just started and no doorbell or camera info. I have 3 days left to return my system. Two of my neighbors have Vivint and the doorbell and cameras work awesome. Only reason went with SS is because camera and doorbell integrattion. Seems this week SS gets returned and Vivint gets installed. Too bad because is a great system.

Hear, hear! I would like to know if it will work with the 2nd gen systems or just the new release.

I was really looking for an update on this.  It is not very encouraging that there isn't even a reply to this thread that it has been delayed or should be out in March/April.  I'm loving the system but if this isn't out soon I might be switching to Ring.

Do NOT switch to Ring for any of their products. I'm currently trying to return their entire home system because it is terrible. SimpliSafe is a much better option.

@cy.cawthron  -  Could you expand a bit on your experience?  It's probably not appropriate to 'bash' a SS competitor in the SS forums, but a factual explanation of your experiences should be allowed, I think.  I know I'd like some user input.

Ring has the lead in connected doorbells. It would take a miracle for SS to meet or surpass what they have accomplished. I'll keep my Ring for sure

I can't recommend Ring. I had one along with my cop friend we both had issues with the Ring not picking up people (motion) right on the front porch. Yet it would pick up the garbage truck out on the street. Not something I would rely on.

I'm waiting for the SS doorbell. I hope it integrates well with the SS3

I too am looking forward to the doorbell cam. Isn't there anyone at SS to respond to these posts?

I actually went with SS3 for the doorbell camera, outside cameras, and connected door lock. The alarm system is good but I purchase SS anticipating these upgrades.  It is a little concerning that no info regrading these updates have been provided!  I am actually waiting to upgrade my door lock with SS but we have not heard anything....................

In one of the forums I posted a link to the fcc.gov site that shows the releasable documents submitted to the fcc for licensing by SS.  It appears SS can request documents be kept confidential for 45 days or indefinitely.  Based on what is published as of last night, there are no releasable documents showing anything beyond a new indoor camera.  The documents for the non-existent CO sensor is there.  SS could have submitted documents yesterday and we won't know until the middle of May.  I'm not expecting to see all the new items promised at CES until at least 4th quarter this year.  Maybe I am an optimist!

Do you really think SS is going to come anywhere close to a Ring or Nest doorbell or Kevo deadbolt? Hell no. It will be a toy with little to no documentation with the only help coming in the way of a forum (aka beta testers)

Ring is good (I have one), but the lag time in connecting, even when the monitoring device is on the same wifi, is really annoying and I read the same complaint all the time. I think it would be fairly easy to beat Ring, on that issue alone.  The newest Ring has great resolution, but the lag makes it almost unusable.

Agreed about Ring. It's good when it connects, but 90% of the time, the app takes so long to load/connect, whatever the Ring picked up is already long gone. I will be likely be ditching it, so I'm hoping SimpliSafe's version comes out sooner rather than later. It would be great to have a doorbell integrated into my existing system.

Get the Nest doorbell camera.  Works great.  Instant alerts and hasn't lost connectivity once.  It's also much slimmer than the Ring doorbells and was very easy to replace our original, skinny plastic doorbell with.

@NRA Life Member, you of little faith~  the prototype shown at CES looks pretty good.  I like having all SS components, including Simplicam, so it if fully integrated.  SS said "next quarter" at CES and in my calendar that means through June 30th. 1080, motion, I expect it to perform well.
