Camera movement notification settings

I recently bought 2 cameras and I want to change the way I am notified if motion is being detected. Right now the only audible option is for my iPhone to send me a notification which is a very soft tone (not able to change that through iPhone). Is there a way to turn on a "chirp' option (like when a entry sensor is being activated) so that I will be able to hear if motion is detected while I am sleeping? I had the Ring cameras and this was an option and I could have Alexa also announce motion detection (Alexa doesn't work with SimpliSafe to that extent yet). I have several little kids at home and want to know if they are waking around the house. Any help would be appreciated as this is my main purpose.

Hi lukeandtiffany,

It sounds like you already have your Motion Sensors set to Secret Alert, so you'll get notified of motion events even when your system is disarmed?

As far as notifications in iOS go, unfortunately there's no way to change the notification tone - it just uses the default that you have set for your whole phone.

An alternate option would be to use Entry Sensors for your inside doors. The Entry Sensors feature a door chime, so you can get notifications whenever someone opens a door.

@davey_d I agree with lukeandtiffany. There is only one notification when motion is detected and the audible is VERY faint. I have the entry chimes, and yes the base station alert sound is good for that. I also did not set anything up in my phone to make the motion notifications be so low and such a basic sound. I don't understand why you would not have the option to customize the sound for camera motion. I am glad the question was asked because; I have looking every where to see how I could change this and also increase the volume.

Is there a way for the base station to announce movement in home or away mode? Either with a tone similar to when an entry sensor chimes or a voice like when the system is armed or disarmed.

Hi lukeandtiffany,

When your system is armed, in Home or Away Modes, the Base Station will not make any sound at all. Even the light will turn off. This is deliberate, so that it stay hidden, can buy itself time to send the alarm signal. That is, until the actual alarm event is initiated and the sirens come on.

Camera - select the camera you want to edit - settings - motion detection - turn on both motion events and notifications. The only time my camera doesn't pick up anything is when the system is set to Off.

I am disappointed that this problem has been brought up for quite some time now and there has been no resolution. Had I known I would barely be able to hear a notification when my outdoor camera is activated I wouldn’t have got it! It’s pretty much useless if I don’t know someone is there!

I've the same issue on an Android device.

It would be *so* useful for differentiating notifications at a 'device triggered' level.

I'm using the 'new' Simplisafe doorbell w camera and the 'motion sensed' notification is barely audible in certain situations (too soft - as noted by geno14266yh1)
