Right, the camera should be following the shutter setting, and should not be triggering recordings while the shutter is closed. Are you seeing a pattern of when the Motion alerts are happening? For example, if you're seeing them after every time you disarm the system, that would be normal.
@jeremyblm you can set the privacy guard position for "off", "home" and "away" modes in the settings area in the phone app or in the dashboard on the website. I have mine on open for all three, as the doorbell and 3 simpliscams are all on the fist floor, all bedrooms on the 2nd. Note that the settings can be different for each camera.

already in a given mode.
But there will also still be recordings when there's system activity - like when there's a disarm, a power outage, or an actual alarm event.
