Web app camera time out

I work from home and I've been trying to use my camera to watch my dog in the backyard when I can't be out there with her.

Using Chrome, I log into webapp.simplisafe.com, go to "Cameras," select the camera I want, & put it into full screen mode on a spare laptop.

After about 10-15 minutes, I get automatically logged out of the web app, even if the camera is still connected.

Is there any way to change this behavior?

I've tried calling SimpliSafe support, but we weren't able to resolve the issue.

Thank you!

Hi @rorywohl,

Our cameras are designed to enhance the main security system, so they're set up for rapid response. Unfortunately, they are not intended for surveillance. While we don't place a specific limit on how long you can livestream, the stream will drop eventually.

@davey_d Im sorry Simplisafe I have perry much written off outdoor cameras and looking to replace them with something that works for me, I have only been with Simplisafe for abour 4 months now and have waisted way to much time on these cameras to try to make them work properly.

Got it. How about the timeout on webapp.simplisafe.com? Any way to prevent it logging me out automatically? (I guess I could just use one of those auto-refresh Chrome extensions.)

I WFM and also would like my cameras for more surveillance as I use for baby monitor and wish to have a dedicated monitor with all of my cameras. Should be a setting. Very annoying that I have to keep logging in and reloading to watch my cameras. If I knew this ahead of time, I wouldn't have chosen Simplisafe

I too would like to use my camera without timing out.  Simplisafe doesn't consider surveillance to be a commonly desired capability paying customers might expect of their security system?

I second the below, please at least give the option to turn off Website Timeout. I have 8 cameras and need to monitor these throughout the day, I need a all in one system as I have my alarm and cameras all throughSimpliSafe.

We have been with Simplisafe for a few years now, and since we have moved to a much larger home in another state, the need to be able to see the cameras full time both outdoors and indoors has increased three fold because our family dynamic has changed.  Although we live in a very good neighborhood and area it doesn't matter because bad things happen in good neighborhoods as well as bad ones in today's society. Since I'm paying for full monitoring and we can only pull up a camera for an extremely short time, maybe it's time to seek another alarm system that has the ability to use their cameras for surveillance. It's great that Simplisafe is wireless and portable but it has a serious flaw in that it does not allow the owners to use surveillance as a safety feature to protect home and family.  I'm going to pay a monitoring fee either way, and Simplisafe has increased their fee so I'm going to check around our area and see what options there are. Simplisafe, you may want to make that option available, or chance losing customer base. Based on the comments here, it's obvious that it is a needed ability in your camera and alarm system.

Come on SImplisafe, make this happen :) Been a customer for 6 years and love the product, support, and relationship but this is a major headache. I have a mouse jiggle that helps keep the Web Portal up for a little longer but the Time Outs is a major issue to monitor my Property and Facilities.

If SimpliSafe got on with it, a potential solution is to move to matter support. That way, you could have them locally fed to HomeKit. They possibly won't do this as you can store video on iCloud, and then the monitoring feature becomes slightly weaker and "may" hit their bottom line. I am now looking at Aqara, which has an alarm feature I can use with the smart home. For example, when the alarm is triggered, all the house lights alternate between blue and red. You can also see the cameras.

SimpliSafe: You will lose people if you don't innovate. The market and capabilities in this sector have moved on a lot.
