i'm looking for ideas on how to mount sensors on a garage door. Is there a way to search the forum without reading through line by line?

I opted to use a motion sensor in my garage.

I rigged a door sensor.  Tried positioning with masking tape, then attached when it worked.  It is on the top of the door and the wall above it.

I just found a use for a new sensor!  I have a wifi garage door opener that sends notifications when the door is opened or closed.  A sensor would be useful to set the alarm off if the garage door opened in the middle of the night, when I'm not near my phone to get notifications.

all garage doors fabricated to incorporate a security turning around framework nothing but a garage door sensors. At any cost, you should have an affirmed security gadget on your garage door by U.S. Federal Law UL 325. also garage door safety sensors cost fairly changes if you want to replace them they might cost around $85 - $95 and if you want them installed by a professional the total cost will be around $170. Separating the garage door opener from the garage door will sidestep the sensors. to get a idea on top-rated garage door opener hop on.https://www.garagedooropener.review/

I just found a place to order a hinged bracket that holds a (gen 2) entry sensor to mount onto a garage door. Search idea xtruder
simplisafe garage door bracket on YouTube.  I will let everyone know how it works.

@reo164000 I used a door hinge and it works great. Is a SS3 entry sensor but should work fine on a SS2 sensor.

The bracket I ordered you remove the back of the sensor and it mounts directly to the bracket no tape needed. The bracket screws to the door. It is a hinge that the sensor mounts to. It was less than $8.00. I will be receiving it Fri. This is made for the new SimpliSafe system.

@reo164000 I was not ready to drill into my garage door to mount the door hinge but it works very well. Good luck with your install.

BTW, I am in the greater Chicagoland area and a motion sensor that has been in my garage has worked fine from 90 degrees to 8 degrees over the past two years so expect no issues with the entry sensor.

@reo164000 lol. So you know all about our unofficial state motto: Land of Taxes.  At least we have the same weather to test those Simplisafe components.  The motion and entry sensors do fine in the heat or cold, including the insanity we had two years ago with the so called "polar vortex".  (Couldn't believe how cold it got to a -55 with the wind chill.)

Good luck with your garage door deployment.

How does everyone run their system them after you installed the sensor?  Is the sensor set to off when you arm the system to Away?  I wouldn't think there is enough time to open the garage door, trip the alarm, make it through the service door to the keypad and turn the system off.  I'm sure the key fob would work, but don't like that idea either.  Just wondering how everyone ran theirs day to day concerning the garage door sensor.
