Overview
The Video Doorbell Pro integrates seamlessly with your SimpliSafe® system, allowing you to see visitors and interact with them through its live streaming and two-way audio features, without needing to be home.
The Video Doorbell Pro detects motion using advanced motion analytics during the day to recognize cars, people, and other objects. At night, the Video Doorbell Pro uses passive infrared (PIR) to detect moving, heat-generating objects in contrast to the environment. Since it is looking for warmer objects, you may see an uptick of motion events from the Video Doorbell Pro during the colder months.

Video Doorbell Pro Requirements
Before installing your Video Doorbell Pro, it’s important to know that the device requires:
Existing doorbell wiring
A mechanical chime. The Video Doorbell Pro is not compatible with digital chimes
Failure to meet these requirements may result in damage to your device and/or your home. If you’re unsure if your system meets these requirements, we recommend contacting a licensed electrician.
You can test the voltage of your doorbell using a multimeter or voltage tester. If you're unsure of how to do this, please consult with a licensed electrician in your area for further assistance.
Before Getting Started
You will need to have a 2.4GHz network connection available to complete the setup of this camera.
You’ll also need to have your own Phillips Head screwdriver to complete the installation.
Add the Video Doorbell Pro in the SimpliSafe® Mobile App
Open the SimpliSafe® Mobile App on your smartphone or tablet
Navigate to the three-bar menu on the upper left corner and select Add Device or Camera
Select Video Doorbell Pro from the list of available products
Remove Your Existing Doorbell
Turn off the power to your existing doorbell at the circuit breaker
To locate the correct circuit breaker switch, try turning off each switch one at a time and pressing your doorbell to confirm that it does not ring, indicating that it is off
Locate your doorbell’s chime box and remove its cover. A chime box is a device that is installed inside of your home, usually near a ceiling, and produces a sound when the doorbell is rung
The Chime Connector is a wiring extension that ensures enough power flows between the Video Doorbell Pro and mechanical chime box
After you install the Chime Connector, you will need to uninstall your existing doorbell by removing its screws and disconnecting its wiring
Once the wires have been removed from the doorbell, tape them to the door frame or wrap them tightly around a pencil to prevent them from falling into the wall
If you want to install the Video Doorbell Pro flat on your surface, refer to the steps below to install the mounting bracket.
Hold the mounting bracket up to the surface and use a pencil to mark where you want to place the screws
If you are installing the Video Doorbell Pro on a brick, stone, or stucco surface, you will need to install wall anchors next
Drill 2 pilot holes into the wall using a 3/16 inch drill bit
Gently tap the wall anchors into the wall using a hammer or mallet
Thread the doorbell wiring through the center of the mounting bracket
Remove the cardboard Clearance marker off the mounting bracket
Secure the mounting bracket to the surface using a philips head screwdriver and the included screws
Connect the Doorbell Wiring to the Mounting Bracket
Use a screwdriver to loosen both terminal screws on the mounting bracket
Slide the exposed wires behind the square washers. We recommend placing the wire ends to the left of each screw to prevent them from touching
Tighten the terminal screws to secure the wires in place
Attach the Video Doorbell Pro to the Mounting Bracket
Place the Video Doorbell Pro on the mounting bracket and slide it down until it clicks into place
Remove the protective film from the camera's lens
Once the Video Doorbell Pro is attached to the mounting bracket, turn the power back on at the circuit breaker
Wait up to 10 minutes for the Video Doorbell Pro to power up. You’ll know the doorbell has sufficient power when it begins to blink white, indicating that it is ready to be paired to the system
Press its doorbell button to confirm it chimed
If your doorbell did not chime, it could be due to the following reasons:
Your doorbell setup does not align with our requirements.
We require a doorbell transformer with an output of 8-24 VAC, 10-30 VA and a digital chime box
The Chime Connector has not been installed properly
If your doorbell did not chime and the LED light doesn’t blink white, turn off the power at your circuit breaker and ensure that the doorbell wiring is secure to the mounting bracket
Connect the Video Doorbell Pro to Wi-Fi
The SimpliSafe® Mobile App will next prompt you to confirm the location you are installing the Video Doorbell Pro at and select the Wi-Fi network you are connecting it to
You will next be asked to name the Video Doorbell Pro by picking one of our pre-selected names or selecting Custom Name to input your own
Your phone’s screen will then display a QR code for your Video Doorbell Pro to scan to connect to your Wi-Fi network
Enroll the Video Doorbell Pro in Active Guard Outdoor Protection
If you are subscribed to either our Pro Plus or Pro monitoring plans, you will then be prompted to enroll your Video Doorbell Pro in Active Guard Outdoor Protection. If you do not want to enroll your camera now, you may always do so at a later time.
Secure the Video Doorbell Pro to the Mounting Bracket
Finally, you will need to secure the Video Doorbell Pro it its bracket using the included security screw and Torx screwdriver
Insert the security screw to the bottom of the Video Doorbell Pro and then use the Torx screwdriver to tighten it in place
Note: you must use the included Torx screwdriver; failure to do so could strip the security screw and damage the Video Doorbell Pro’s battery
