Device Battery Usage and Signal Strength in the SimpliSafe® Mobile App
The SimpliSafe® Mobile App will alert you to a fair or poor connection between your devices and the Base Station by displaying a battery usage icon and signal strength indicator next to the product’s name.
Open the SimpliSafe® Mobile App (opens in new tab) on your phone or tablet
Choose My System from the bottom navigation bar
You’ll now see a list of all of the products associated with this system, and next to the device’s name you’ll see the battery usage icon along with the signal strength indicator
The app will alert you when the battery becomes low, and again when it is critically low - before the device goes offline. This should give you enough time to change the battery for your product, to avoid any disruptions in your home or businesses protection.

Sensors, Smart Locks, and the Key Fob all use Radio Frequency (RF) to communicate with the Base Station (opens in new tab). If you are seeing a fair or poor connection, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot wireless interference (opens in new tab). You’ll want to make sure that each product affected is in a clear environment, and not within the immediate vicinity of devices that output wireless signals. You’ll also want to make sure there aren’t any major obstructions between the product and your Base Station, such as dense building materials.
Common Sources of RF Interference
Some common sources of wireless interference are listed below, but note that this list is not exhaustive. It’s to give you a good baseline or idea of what could potentially be triggering interference within your home or business.
Garage door openers
Remote-controlled outlets/switches
Baby monitors (some older models)
Walkie-talkies (certain low-power)
Car/gate key fobs (some older or aftermarket)
Home automation devices (various sensors/controllers)
Amateur (ham) radio equipment
LED lights
Smart switches
Smart bulbs
Light dimmers
Wireless weather stations
Wireless Interference could also come from a source outside of your home or business. Below are some common examples of what else can interfere with your SimpliSafe® System.
Nearby airports or Air Traffic Control towers
Road or building construction sites
Solar farms, solar panels, high-voltage power lines, or other power generation facilities
Major TV, radio, or cellular broadcast towers
Troubleshooting
You may be able to resolve the issue using the following steps:
We recommend starting your search by looking for devices that were recently installed. But some devices might also be active only at certain times, so you may not notice them having an effect right away. For example, garage door openers are typically active only when in use, like when you’re coming home or are about to leave.
If a single sensor is having trouble, try to identify third party devices near it that may be outputting a wireless signal - and move those devices further away from that product.
If there is no device near the SimpliSafe® device that could cause the issue, it’s possible that there may be wireless interference near the Base Station. Once you have identified a potential cause of interference, try moving the Base Station (opens in new tab) away from them, to reduce the effect.
If the interference persists after moving the Base Station, we’d recommend moving your Keypad as well to ensure there is clear communication between it and the Base Station.
If you have taken these steps and are still seeing the issue occur, it’s likely the interference is being generated from an outside source. In that case, we recommend moving the Base Station as far away from the external source as possible. For example, if you live next to an airport, move the Base Station to the furthest point away from it inside of your home.
Note: Replacing the batteries in the Base Station will not resolve the Wireless Interference error message. If you place incorrect batteries in the Base Station, it can damage the device.
