Setting up Text and Email Alerts for SimpliSafe®

SimpliSafe® offers text, email, and push notification (opens in new tab) alerts so you can stay up to date with your system's status on the go. In order to receive text alerts, you must utilize a US-based phone number.

SMS/Text Notifications for Alarms

Requires a supported residential or business monitoring plan. Plans include:

  • Pro Plus

  • Pro

  • Core

  • Standard

  • Self-Monitoring with Camera Recording

You can set these alerts up via your mobile app or our online app from your browser.

From the Mobile App

  1. Navigate to the “My System” gear on the bottom of the screen and tap Notifications Setting (opens in new tab)

  2. Tap the type of alert you'd like to add, Email or SMS.

  3. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete setting up the alert.

    1. Name the alert, choose the type, and fill in your information.

    2. Tap to check the options for Alarm, System Status, and System Health you would like enabled. If you’re not certain which ones you’d like, we recommend choosing all three initially.

  4. Tap “Save Alert” to save your changes.

  5. Verify the alert type.

    1. For SMS alerts, you’ll receive a text. You’ll need to press the Verify button in the app, and then copy the confirmation code from the text into the box.

    2. For email alerts, you’ll receive an email with a link to verify the email address. Click it to complete setup.

From the SimpliSafe® Online Account

  1. Login to the SimpliSafe® Online Account (opens in new tab) using the browser of your choice.

  2. Click “Add User”.

  3. Choose between SMS (text alerts) and email, and enter your information.

    1. For SMS alerts, major carriers are at the top of the list—the list is not entirely in alphabetical order.

  4. Verify the alert type.

    1. For SMS alerts, you’ll receive a text. You’ll need to press the Verify button in the web app, and then copy the confirmation code from the text into the box.

    2. For email alerts, you’ll receive an email with a link to verify the email address. Click it to complete setup.
