Video Doorbell Series 2 Notifications
The Video Doorbell Series 2 sends you two types of notifications: Motion Detection notifications and Visitor Notifications. You will receive a Motion Detection notification when the camera detects movement, and a Visitor Notification when the doorbell is rung.
Motion Detection Notifications
Motion Detection notifications are sent when the Video Doorbell detects movement. This notification category is broken into four categories: People, Packages, Vehicle (coming soon), and Motion.
People Notifications
People Notifications* are sent whenever the Video Doorbell detects a person moving in its field of view. To customize this setting:
Open the SimpliSafe® app on your phone or tablet
Select My System from the navigation menu at the bottom of the screen
Select Camera Settings
Choose your Video Doorbell Series 2
Tap Motion Detection
Toggle People On or Off
Package Detection
On the lookout for a delivery? With Package Notifications* enabled, you will be notified whenever a package is dropped off at your door. To customize this setting:
Open the SimpliSafe® app on your phone or tablet
Select My System from the navigation menu at the bottom of the screen
Select Camera Settings
Choose your Video Doorbell Series 2
Tap Motion Detection
Toggle Packages On or Off
If you are subscribed to either the Pro Plus or Pro monitoring plans and have enrolled your Video Doorbell in SimpliSafe® Active Guard Outdoor Protection, package detection will be enabled automatically, and will not be visible in the app under Motion Detection.

Vehicle Detection
This feature is coming soon as part of the residential and business Pro Plus, Pro, Core, and Self-Monitoring with Camera Recordings monitoring plans (opens in new tab).
With Vehicle Detection, you will receive a notification whenever a vehicle is detected entering your property.
General Motion Notifications
Motion Notifications is a general category, and will alert you to all motion the Video Doorbell captures, like people, vehicles, and wildlife. To customize this setting:
Open the SimpliSafe® app on your phone or tablet
Select My System from the navigation menu at the bottom of the screen
Select Camera Settings
Choose your Video Doorbell Series 2
Tap Motion Detection
Toggle Motion On or Off
Visitor Notifications
With Visitor Notifications enabled, you will be notified whenever your Video Doorbell is rung. When you have both Motion Detection Notifications and Visitor Notifications enabled, you will receive 2 notifications when your doorbell is rung. You will receive a Motion Detection Notification when the visitor walks up to your home, and a Visitor Notification when they ring the doorbell. To customize this setting:
Open the SimpliSafe® app on your phone or tablet
Select My System from the navigation menu at the bottom of the screen
Select Camera Settings
Choose your Video Doorbell Series 2
Scroll down to Visitor Notification and toggle the setting On or Off
