The Video Doorbell Series 2 Will Not Turn On
If your Video Doorbell Series 2 does not detect any motion and neither its Status Light or Ring Light turn on, that indicates that it is not receiving power. This could be due to one of two reasons: your doorbell wiring is not connected to the Video Doorbell, or the transformer is not supplying the Video Doorbell with enough power.
Confirm Your Doorbell Wiring is Connected to the Video Doorbell
As a first step, you will need to remove the Video Doorbell from its mounting bracket to check your doorbell wiring.
Turn off the power to the Video Doorbell at your circuit breaker
Using the included security tool, remove the security screw at the bottom of the Video Doorbell
Please do not use a Phillips head screwdriver to try and remove the security screw. If you no longer have your security tool, you can also use a T5 Torx screwdriver, which you can find at a local retailer
Lift the Video Doorbell up and off its mounting bracket
Looking at the back of the Video Doorbell, check to see if your doorbell wires are securely connected behind the terminal screws
If you needed to use the wire extensions that came with the Video Doorbell, please confirm that the extensions are both securely connected to the doorbell wiring and terminal screws on the back of the Video Doorbell
After checking your doorbell wiring’s connection to the Video Doorbell, place it back on its mounting bracket, put the security screw back in place, and turn the power back on to the doorbell at your circuit breaker
It should take about a minute for the Video Doorbell to power on. If, after a minute you do not see any lights on the front of the device, continue with the steps below.
Check Your Transformer’s Voltage
In order to receive proper power, the Video Doorbell requires a transformer rated for 16-24VAC, 10-30VA, it cannot be used with transformers that supply a lower voltage. If your Video Doorbell still is not powering on after confirming that your doorbell wiring is securely connected to the device, that indicates that it is not receiving enough power. Please check your transformer’s voltage with a multimeter to see if it aligns with our requirements. If you are not sure how to do this, we recommend contacting a licensed electrician in your area.
