How to Connect Your Base Station to Starlink Wi-Fi

If your Base Station won't connect to your Starlink Wi-Fi network, you can fix this by creating a separate 2.4 GHz network in the Starlink app and connecting your Base Station to it directly.

Log In to the Starlink App

  1. Open the Starlink app on your phone or tablet. You'll need to be logged in to make changes to your router settings.

  2. If you aren't logged in, sign in using the email address and password you used when you ordered your Starlink service. Confirm you're on the main home dashboard before continuing.

Create Separated 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Networks

  1. Tap Settings, then tap Router.

  2. Tap Add Network.

  3. Find the toggle labeled “Split 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks” and turn it on.

  4. Give each network a distinct name so they're easy to tell apart. Add these to the end of your existing Wi-Fi name:

    • 2.4 GHz network: add "_2.4" or "_2G" (example: SmithHome_2.4)

    • 5 GHz network: add "_5" or "_5G" (example: SmithHome_5)

  5. You can use the same Wi-Fi password for both networks.

  6. Tap Save.

Saving these settings will reboot your Starlink router. Internet access will be unavailable for about 30 to 60 seconds, and your phone will briefly disconnect from Wi-Fi.

Connect Your Base Station to the New 2.4 GHz Network

Once your Starlink router finishes rebooting and shows a normal network status, connect your Base Station:

  1. On the Keypad, go to Menu > System Settings > WiFi.

  2. Select your new 2.4 GHz network (example: SmithHome_2.4).

  3. Enter your Wi-Fi password.

Your Base Station will now connect. A solid blue light on the Base Station confirms it's connected to the 2.4 GHz network. If you can't check the light, you can also confirm the connection by checking your system status in the SimpliSafe® Mobile App.
