Using the SimpliSafe® Mobile App
Open the SimpliSafe® Mobile App (opens in new tab) on your phone or tablet

Camera Behavior
You can set your Video Doorbell Series 2 to detect motion based on your system's arming state (opens in new tab). For example, you can turn off recording when the system is OFF but keep it on when the system is set to AWAY.
To change these settings:
Tap into either OFF, HOME, or AWAY
Make the adjustments to Motion Detection and Motion Notifications
Choose SAVE in the upper right corner of the app to save your selections
Motion Detection
Motion Detection settings control how your camera responds to motion events, such as someone walking in its view or a car driving by. In this menu, you can adjust Motion Event Types, Motion Sensitivity, and Activity Zones.
Motion Sensitivity
This setting determines how sensitive the camera is to detecting motion events. This setting can be set to Low, Medium, or High, with Medium being the default.
Event Type
The Event Type setting allows you to toggle on or off different types of motion event detection: People, Packages, and Motion. When set to Motion, the Video Doorbell will detect general motion caused by vehicles, animals, weather, etc.. However, to minimize the type of motion events you’re notified about, you can select People, which will only notify you when people are detected, and Packages, which will only notify you when packages are detected.
Activity Zones
Activity Zones (opens in new tab) let you exclude specific areas from motion detection. This is useful for filtering out high-traffic areas in the camera's view, like a busy street or sidewalk, so you're only alerted to motion that matters.
Video Quality
Video Quality controls the resolution used for livestreams and recordings. You can adjust this to 1984p, 1536p, or 960p. Higher resolution looks sharper but uses more bandwidth, so if you're having trouble streaming, try lowering the quality.
Night Vision
The camera has 3 night vision options which can be selected in the Camera Settings menu:
Auto: The camera will automatically determine on/off based on prevailing light conditions.
On: Use in situations where the camera will be in a constantly dark area such as a heavy shaded porch.
Off: With night vision disabled, your camera will rely on other light sources to see things at night. Your camera may not see clearly in the dark.
Status Light
The Status Light for your camera will show you at a glance whether the camera is recording or streaming. This setting can be turned On or Off and is On by default.
The status light is located just under the camera lens on the device. The light around the button activates when visitors approach.
Mic & Audio
Mic & Audio controls whether your camera records sound and lets you talk through its speaker using two-way audio. This setting is On by default, but can be turned Off at any time.
Siren
Your Video Doorbell has a built-in siren that sounds along with your system's alarm, alerting neighbors or nearby passersby that you may need help. This setting is On by default, but can be turned Off at any time.
Doorbell Chime
Doorbell Chime settings control how your Base Station and home’s chime sound when the Doorbell’s button is pressed.
Chime Type
Chime Type identifies the kind of chime installed in your home and wired to the Video Doorbell: Mechanical, Digital, or Plug-In Power Adapter. This is set during installation and typically shouldn't need to change afterward.
Base Station Chime
The Base Station Chime setting sets the volume at which your Base Station will chime when the doorbell is rung. This can be set to Off, Low, Medium, or High.
Visitor Notification
The Visitor Notification allows you to receive push notifications to your phone or tablet when the button on your doorbell is pressed.
