The Chime Box is Making a Buzzing Sound
If the mechanical chime box in your home is making a buzzing sound, or it only produces part of a chime when the doorbell is rung, you will need to install the Chime Connector that came with the Video Doorbell Series 2.

Before Getting Started
Before installing the Chime Connector, ensure that you have a mechanical chime box; the Chime Connector is not compatible with digital chimes. If you don’t know what type of chime you have, please refer to the How to Tell if You Have a Digital or Mechanical Chime Box (opens in new tab) article.
Turn off the Video Doorbell’s Power
Before installing the Chime Connector, you will need to ensure that the power to your Video Doorbell is turned off
Turn off the doorbell’s power at the circuit breaker
Locate your chime box. The chime box is usually located near the front door - typically close to the ceiling
Remove the cover off of the chime box. Some covers can be lifted off, while others need to be unscrewed
Connect the Chime Connector to the Front Terminal
The Chime Connector has 2 wires. Each wire needs to be connected to a terminal screw on your chime box. To connect a wire to your chime box’s Front terminal:
The terminals on your chime box will either be labeled Front/Trans/Rear, A/B/C, or 1/2/3. To connect the Chime Connector to the Front terminal, locate the screw labeled Front, A, or 1
Using a Phillips head screwdriver, loosen the Front, A, or 1 screw, making sure that the doorbell wire behind the screw stays attached
Connect one of the Chime Connector’s prongs under the terminal screw. Once attached, tighten the terminal screw back in place
Connect the Chime Connector to the Middle Terminal
After connecting one wire of the Chime Connector to the Front terminal, you will need to connect the second wire to the Trans terminal.
The terminals on your chime box will either be labeled Front/Trans/Rear, A/B/C, or 1/2/3. To connect the Chime Connector to the Front terminal, locate the screw labeled Trans, B, or 2
Using a Phillips head screwdriver, loosen the Trans, B, or 2 screw, making sure that the doorbell wire behind the screw stays attached
Connect one of the Chime Connector’s prongs under the terminal screw. Once attached, tighten the terminal screw back in place
Restore Power and Test the Chime Box
After connecting the Chime Connector to your chime box, turn the power to your Video Doorbell back on and test the chime box.
Return to your circuit breaker and turn the power to the Video Doorbell on
Wait about a minute for the Video Doorbell to power up and then press its doorbell button
After ringing the doorbell, confirm that the chime box produces the correct “ding dong” sound and the chime box no longer buzzes
If the sound is still incorrect, or the chime box is still buzzing, double check that the Chime Connector’s prongs and doorbell wires are securely connected underneath the terminal screws
