There are instances where you may need to transfer your system and service to a new or different Base Station, such as replacing a faulty Base Station or transferring to a new Base Station when you move or upgrade to a new system. To do so, please follow the below steps.
Before You Begin
For those users who have a Smart Lock and/or battery cameras in their system, these devices will need to be removed from the system so that they can be paired with the new Base Station. To do so:
- Open the SimpliSafe mobile app and tap the hamburger menu button (≡)
- Choose "My System"
- Choose "Device Settings" for the Smart Lock, and/or "Camera Settings" for your battery cameras
- Select the device
- At the bottom of the page select "Remove Device"
- Repeat these steps as necessary for all Smart Locks and battery cameras
Replacing Your Base Station
Once you've removed your Smart Locks and battery cameras from your system using the steps above, you'll need to remove the old Base Station and then add the new one.
- Ensure your system is disarmed
- Unplug your old Base Station and remove a battery to cut power
- You can use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the battery cover on the bottom of the Base Station
- Remove a battery from your KeyPad by sliding the battery cover on the back down and off
- If you have more than one KeyPad, remove a battery from each of them
- On your NEW Base Station, remove the battery tab and plug it in
- It should light up blue and say "Welcome to SimpliSafe"
- It should light up blue and say "Welcome to SimpliSafe"
- Open the SimpliSafe mobile app and tap the hamburger menu button (≡)
- Select "My System"
- Choose "General Settings"
- At the bottom of the page, choose "Replace Base Station"
- If you have multiple properties you will need to select the one that the new Base Station will protect
- Scan the QR code on the bottom of your new Base Station or manually enter the SSN
- You may need to wait 10–15 seconds as your Base Station is recognized, and then tap "Done"
- Do not enter your PIN yet, even if prompted to do so
- Put the batteries back into your KeyPad(s)
- If your KeyPad does not connect to the Base Station: unscrew and remove the battery cover on the bottom of your Base Station, press the button opposite the power cord port on the bottom of the Base Station, take a battery out of the KeyPad and wait 90 seconds before reinserting it, the Base Station should announce "KeyPad added" when pairing is complete
- Connect your Base Station to WiFi in the SimpliSafe app: Menu > My System > General Settings > WiFI Network > follow the onscreen prompts to connect to your WiFi network
- Add your Smart Locks and battery cameras back to your system in the SimpliSafe app
- Smart Locks: Menu > My System > Device Settings > Add a Device + at top right > Smart Lock and follow the onscreen prompts to continue re-installation for this device
- Battery cameras: Menu > Set up a camera > Select the camera type and follow the onscreen prompts to continue re-installation for this device
- Your new Base Station is now set up and ready to protect your home
