Doorbell camera detects motion far and near but not in between, like when every package is delivered

My wife wants us to cancel service since our doorbell camera notifies us of large trucks and buses passing in the street but does not notify us when someone walks straight up our walkway and drops a package on our front steps. When we open the door to retrieve a package we get a notification. But

Is the horizontal wedge fatter on one side than the other (versus at the top than the bottom)?

I can't believe this doesn't already happen and this has to be asked for but... Please make the mobile app generate an alarm, a pop up, a confirmation box or SOMETHING to tell you that, when arming via mobile app, there is an entry sensor open. Ri

Thank you so much!!! I have tried getting this concept through to the phone support but after various attempts I gave up. It is a subtle thing but IMO very important.
