Custom PINs for SimpliSafe® Business Accounts
Updated
Overview
PINs are the four-digit sequences used to arm and disarm your system, as well as to lock and unlock the Smart Lock. When setting up your system, you will be prompted to create a Master PIN. However, you have the option to create additional Custom and Duress PINs.
Custom PINs are similar to the Master PIN, but they cannot be used to change system settings; rather, they can be given to other people (such as employees) so they can disarm your system, or unlock your front door when a Smart Lock is present. They can also be used to cancel an alarm via the Keypad. When you give each Custom PIN a different name, you can keep track of who is disarming your system in the timeline on the SimpliSafe® Mobile App or SimpliSafe® Online Account.
Customers who are subscribed to a SimpliSafe® Business Security can now create up to 9 Custom PINs when using the SimpliSafe® Mobile App.
If you are subscribed to a monitoring plan that includes 24/7 emergency dispatch, the Duress PIN can be used in emergency situations to immediately request the dispatch of police to your location.
Please note that PINs are different from your Safe Word. Your Safe Word will be needed to make changes to your monitoring subscriptions and to verify or cancel an alarm event when you’re on the phone with our team of experts.
Having trouble creating more than 4 Custom PINs? You’ll need to make sure you have updated the firmware for both your Base Station and the Smart Lock (if applicable).
Please note - Customers with an SS2 system (Original SimplISafe®) are not eligible for this feature. If you have an SS2 system, our Support team can tell you more about our upgrade offerings.

Troubleshooting Custom PINs
If you’re having trouble creating more than 4 Custom PINs, there are a few steps you can take to ensure that this process works.
First, ensure that you are on a business monitoring plan. These plans include Pro Plus Business, Pro Business, Core Business, and Standard Business. Residential monitoring plans are not eligible for this feature.
Second, this feature is not compatible with SS2 Systems (Original SimpliSafe®). This is due to a hardware limitation. For information on upgrading to the latest version of SimpliSafe®, don’t hesitate to contact our support team for assistance.
Finally, you’ll need to make sure that your system is fully up to date with the latest firmware. This means that you’ll need to update the firmware for both your Base Station, and the Smart Lock (if applicable).
Not a Business?
Residential subscribers still have access to Custom PINs, granting them 4 Custom PINs to be created through the SimpliSafe® Mobile App or Keypad. You can learn more about creating and deleting Custom PINs on our Help Center.
