Will SS work for me?

Here's what I'm looking for:

1. Self monitoring. I don't want to pay a fee, I just want to be alerted when the alarm triggers. I already have remote cameras, so don't need any camera monitoring from SS. I think the unmonitored plan does this, but there are conflicting answers about this on the board.

2. Smart lock. I'd *really* like this to be hands free, preferably with geofencing auto lock/unlock (I know SS doesn't have this). I thought google/alexa integration would work, but it doesn't look like SS supports unlocking? Taking out my phone, opening app and unlocking is annoying, having to use a pin code more so. The SS smart lock is appealing in that it arms/disarms the system, don't know if it's worth the tradeoff.

3. Some way to otherwise arm/disarm the system automatically. This doesn't seem to be an option, although I can do it through the app.

Hi @nola,

Thanks for considering SimpliSafe!

You might find different answers on the Community because we only just launched Basic App Control in the past year. But the answer right now is that yes, you can set up your system and connect it to the SimpliSafe app, so you can receive Push Notifications of alarm events without having to subscribe to Monitoring Service.

More detailed info can be found on our Help Center page here.

Our Smart Lock is simpler than what you describe. It's tied to the security system, and can auto-lock when the system is armed, and auto-unlock when the system is disarmed. But it does not support integrations with smart home systems.

With the Interactive Monitoring Plan, the alarm system does support arming via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, and you can also check the status of the system. But right now, the only way to disarm is through SimpliSafe components or the app.

Auto-arm and disarm are currently not available. The original philosophy is that the system should only be armed or disarmed by conscious human action. But that doesn't mean it can't be done! There is a request on our Community right now that has already been submitted.
