Simplisafe Homekit compatible models

I understand that Simplisafe will add Homekit compatibility sometime this year. If I get the Simplisafe SS3-01 model and its sensors, will they be Homekit compatible as well or would you only enable Homekit compatibility with a new model?

Not sure what reply you will get from SS to your question.  SS3-01 as you note it, was release in January of this year.  Based on the time between SS2 and SS3, if SS were to/does provide integration it would be with this model, just with firmware updates.  They have added a couple of integrations already this year (August locks, Apple watch, Nest thermostat).  This is not a SS official statement, only a user giving you some info you might not have had.

Hi @sdinesh21,

All new features and additional components (such as the new models of SimpliCam) currently in development are for the current All New SimpliSafe system.
We will continue with this current generation for the foreseeable future.

By "All New SimpliSafe" models, do you mean Simplisafe SS03 models? Can you be more specific and confirm?

@Johnny - do you want to go way, way out on the very thin branch and confirm/deny your reference to "new models of SimpliCam" include: new indoor, new outdoor, and new doorbell cameras?  Any other camera(s) I am missing on this list?

Just before I hit Save, I reread you posting.  I truly hope I am not reading it correctly.  Paraphrasing: additional components (cameras) are for SS3 system.  I read that as any camera other than the existing model will NOT be compatible with a SS2 system.

With the excitement generated with the no upgrade path from SS2 to SS3, if this is true, I am going into my cold war nuclear hardened bomb shelter and not coming out for about two years!

I "know" I am wrong, so you might want to tweak you post.

All the reps refer to it as "the ALL NEW SIMPLISAFE systems" - they are in fact, SS3, wish they would start referring to it as such, it's only a small marketing gimmick that is only confusing people.

Any moment now! :).

Will the Homekit integration feature be announced on Simplisafe blog when it's ready to be released? I cannot find any new news via Google search.

If it is like some of the recent "new developments" from SS, probably not.  SS doesn't seem to post much information about new and improved items.  Customers find the "easter eggs" and then tell everyone.  I guess it is more fun that way.

Their blog has not had any new entries since January - their newsletter (that everyone was told to subscribe to for discount offers), to my knowledge, is nearly defunct - the website is outdated and link structure is non-existent - there is no customer information resource page - their facebook page rarely ever has any new posts - the forum is desperate for an upgrade and a search function.

Sorry, simplisafe, but this is so late 1980-s, when kiddies first learned how to put up a cheesy website using WYSIWYG programs.  Tell us how important your customers are, your relationships with your customers, you're dedication to your existing and new customers and don't put it all on the shoulders of your call-center employees and one overworked person on your forum!

with three homes now all do for an alarm system update..SS would be my choice however, without HomeKit integration or at least news of its timing for integration into SS3, i cant consider SS.  While Abode is not quite where id like it to be as far as a fully rounded system it does offer Nest cam and Homekit integration.

would be great if at least SS gave us some information of their progress and expected integration date.  It cant be totally about R&D because other home security systems have managed to add homekit integration in a much shorter time frame..

My concern is like Chamberlain it took almost 3 years from time of release of their app which stated it was homekit compatible to the time it actually was...

@Simplisafe Pleases respond to your customers better.  When can we get HomeKit integration? Many of us do not like Alexa or Google Home due to the privacy concerns.  We want to use Siri (not Hey Siri) to alarm or disarm.  We also want to be able to use Philips Hue with this!

We definitely understand that many of you are eager to get your SimpliSafe connected to HomeKit. I can assure you that it is still under development, though we do not have any further info on release date. We will keep you updated once we do.

Hi Johnny M / SimpliSafe folks,
For which SimpliSafe devices is there active development on HomeKit-integration?
I am trying to make some purchasing decisions and this information would be helpful to know (even though I know it wouldn't be an absolute guarantee.)
Thank you.
