Homekit eta?

I was wondering if you have an estimated timeline for the homekit integration?  And how deep the integration will be?  like could we use the sensors to activate scenes?  Thanks.

@custism19782000, here is a recap of Chad's video with AppleInsider with link:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUwOvrxzmOI

Product/Feature                  Release Estimate          Approx time spot
Video Door Bell                   2nd quarter 2018             8min 30 sec
Outdoor video camera       Later this year                  8 min 55 sec
Smartlock                                  NA                                    9 min 45 sec
IoT Homekit,  Voice asst      This year                          2 min 10 sec
Thank you.  I watched that a few weeks ago but I was looking for a more detailed answer I guess.  A lot of companies have promised certain compatibilities and have not followed thru.  I just want to be sure before I pull the trigger!

I thought in one of the two videos, he said doorbell in two months, and the rest by the end of the year.

@coltmaster1, as the question  from curtism19782000 was about Apple Homekit, this was the only video I remembered it being mentioned.  If the CEO says it, I say it has weight and will get done.  Again, could care less about anything Apple and really want IFTTT and Amazon Echo connectivity.

I used to work for Apple, my internal password was "AppleSucks".  I kid you not.  Take that however you want lol.

I don't think I've used apple-anything in my life.  Apparently, I don't miss it :)
You should give it a try.  It cost more for a reason!  Better software, security, and they don't sell your information like amazon and google do..

I dont watch college football so that might be a ding against me.  Used to be a die hard Raiders fan back when I was still in CA, but over the last 10 years lost interest in the sport all together now that I live in NM where we dont have a Prof Team in any sport what so ever.  :(  I've always been a root for the home team kind of guy.  Oh well, I'm really enjoying the Olympics right now tho.  Love the snowboarding!

I refuse to answer on the grounds I might be discriminated against.  But, no, Captain, not a Notre Dame watcher :)

Um, did you see my post above?  Apple is not better they just had a successful ad campaign to make a few people think that.  Just like people think Bose is best, but join any audio forum and you'll get re-educated real quick.  Apple has all the same problems that everybody else has.

And I have proof that Apple sells your information.  When I worked there we got a huge discount on things so I would order stuff to my house with my family members names on it when I ordered for them.  To this day I still get junk mail to my address with my family members names on it who have never lived at this address.
Apple products are superior.  Take a mac computer for example, no viruses and will still be working 3 years later with no slow down.  Can't say the same thing with any other brand.  They also have the best software and user experience.....................Ok so they mailed advertisements to you under your family member names because you have purchased from them..........At least they don't sell your family photos, internet history, and other sensitive information.  If you have an amazon echo or google home it's even worse.  You can be discussing something near it and that product will be advertised on your facebook or google search right after.  Who knows what else they are collecting and selling and for what reasons.
I'm a little confused by your comment.  You said that "you" ordered stuff to "your" house with your family members names on it, and to this day, you get junk mail addressed to the names of the family members that "you" ordered, and the junk mail is coming to "your" house.  Thats like saying that I subscribed to an online blog, and put my relatives name in the "name" field, and now I'm getting emails from blog sent to "my" inbox, but the emails are addressed to my relatives name.

Apple didn't sell your info, they're just sending "junk" mail to your address because "you" put your address when you made those purchases, and they using your family members names because "you" used your family members names.  It doesn't matter if the family members you used had ever lived at your address.

Also, I'm surprised to hear this about "junk mail' because I also worked for Apple, and I had purchased many items using my discount, and friends and family, and I don't get any "junk mail" from them.

Furthermore, it takes more time for a company to make a product himekit enabled because they have to get the required chip through Apple, which results in the connection to "homeKit" more secure then google, or amazon. So maybe security isn't as important when your connecting a smart lightbulb, or ceiling fan to your home wifi, and controlling from your phone, but I'd say smart locks, cameras, and security systems are pretty damn important things to be secure.

I agree. Apple Music songs are good for streaming on players with the app. I use the DRmare Audio Converter Mac to save the songs on the phone with my subscription. The songs converter are lossless and I put them on my own players for offline listening.

^ send the junk mail back, ("not at this address") written all over it.  The advertisers will get the hint eventually, but the problem is your credit report, lol.  Seriously, people who had been listed at your home, will also end up as residences on your credit reports and the CRA's will use these people/residences as personal questions you have to ask/verify to access your report.  Yes, I'm serious, it happens and it happens quite often.

If I could get rid of the junk mail I could get rid of my mail box.  :)

Tape the junk mail to a brick before marking return to sender  :-)
