@Jesse.b
A limited offer was indeed sent out to some customers for a free upgrade to the All New SimpliSafe. That is, is should be 100% off. If you're still interested, our Sales team at 888-910-1458 can still put together the order for you!

@swisniewski001 I may be the only one who doesn't know, but what is your post referring to?

Was Dave drunk texting fake deals again?  Geez...  I keep telling him it's only funny to him, but he never listens to me.  We should stage an intervention this time.

Yes. I just spent 20 minutes creating my new free upgrade system order thinking oh it must be discounted at the end of the process. No over $800 for this free upgrade. Not feeling very important. Minimally Valuable Person.

I got the same email, my "free" system would have cost me about $600.

"Some customers", you say?  Well I didn't get that offer, what's wrong with me?  Am I too old, too tall, have too odd of an email address, too conservative, append to the forum too much, append to the forums not enough, what?  I'm insulted that you sent other people a better deal you didn't offer me.

Not that I have interest in that deal; it's the principle that I'm not "good enough" to be offered it.  Makes me wonder if you moved my camera to the "hardly works" plan (lately it spends much of it's time blinking various error codes)  :-)

As I go through this thread, again, reading it slowly, it would appear to be a real bonehead move by SS to offer "free" systems to some customers without any rhyme or reason.  There has to be some criteria, and now that its out there, it would be to everyone's benefit, especially Simplisafe's, to disclose it.

For example: "Due to the COVID-19 crisis, we at SS want to do our part. For the higher risk segment of our customer base that, according to our records had a medical event, we are offering free upgrades to SS3 that supports this type of dispatch via the panic button optional feature."

Or something like that. While it may be a bit altruistic to be real, a "free" system that cost $500 in the end would be nothing short of ADT like deception.  Possibly the SS MarCom dept can shed some light now that Johnny M has dipped his toe into the forum pool?

I received the offer via E mail.  I then contacted SS via E mail and received a response that verified the offer.

I then called SS and spoke with one of their reps who was very polite and verified the offer and verified my system.

I was told the order would be out to me soon and I would receive an E mail confirmation.   So far no E mail confirmation of order but they are working at home which surely would slow things up. No mention of any charges.

So we shall see....

Update

I just received notice that my upgrade system has shipped!

1. If you received an Anniversary E mail with a free upgrade offer then call them they will verify and they will
verify your account and access your alarm they will then know what sensors you have and they will walk you through it and build you your new system.

2. You then return old system . They provide free return shipping. If you do not return then you will be charged for new system.

All I can say is received Notice on the Anniversary day I ordered my SS I in 2012 and have had continuous monitoring.

By the way My email questions were answered within less than two hours and I had two phone calls and was on hold for less than one minute the reps were very polite and professional. *****

@reelleisure thank you for the followup post. It appears SS is in the process of doing a very nice thing for its long time SS2 customers.  As usual, they are doing this rather quietly; as far as the number of free upgrades, that is yet to be seen. I have already started contacting 9 SS2 customers I placed (including my two brother-in-laws) to be on the outlook for this offer. Again, reelleisure, thank you for the information.

Update:

Received  SS III upgrade.   With interactive monitoring  turns SS into serious alarm system.

I upgraded to additional 2 cameras,  Doorbell Cam, Door Lock.   I also have Smoke, CO, and Glass Break Much easier to setup than SS  II.

I  noticed the SS cameras are advertised as 1080 P but when I went into settings highest resolution was 720P ?

720P however works fine these are designed for indoor and close range and detail was excellent.

You must have 2 mbps upload bandwidth or they may lag .

The indoor simplicam has always been 720p.  The doorbell cam is 1080p.  I just noticed the website for the simplicam doesn't list the specs at all other than saying HD, but it is a 720p camera.

Yes you are correct.  720P for indoor security is pretty darn good and faster to send it to SS Cloud.
Doorbell 1080p is better however I have elected to keep it at 720p to save bandwidth. (I have a lot of stuff on my wifi router.

I personally can't tell the difference between 1080p and 720p.  I've run zoomed in tests on my own cameras (non ss) and the difference is extremely subtle.

I have 2 cams and a doorbell cam running.  My internet avg is 25 down and 12 up.
Upload speed is what is most important.  I found that cams at 720 or doorbell cam at 1080 ran extremely slow and timed out even with my better than average upload speeds.

I have now have all cams running at 480.  Remember these are security cam covering smaller areas indoors or entry.  I found cams performed much better at the lower resolution.

When you check your cams remember the feed has to upload to SimpliSafe servicers/Cloud.  I also found the microphone is very slow and volume is very low if at all.  Now I do have a heavy load on my wifi router with lots of wifi devices connected.

At the lower resolution picture is still clear and would have no problem with identification of an intruder.

Not misleading and not dishonest. I called and received over $500 worth of product after trying online and not seeing route to a free upgrade. I'm grateful!
