Why no 1080 Resolution Option?

Why has the 1080p option disappeared from the camera settings? They are selling the cameras and advertising them as 1080p but then there's no option to record or even view in 1080p resolution. One of the other forums had response from a Simplisafe rep staying they never have supported 1080p and it has always been 720p. Is this another bait and switch that they have been playing on us? If they don't support 1080p then why do they advertise 1080p? This sounds an awful lot like in the advertising stating that the monitoring station can view your cameras when an alarm is triggered however when I call the monitoring station, they told me that they have no ability nor have they ever had the ability to view any of our cameras for any reason. Talking to a Simplisafe rep after that call left me with a statement reassuring me that yes they can and do (if you have that feature activated, which I do) which is still a lie considering COPS monitoring told me flat out that they can not and do not. 1080p? Visual verification? Bait and switch?

@ksd202 I have been a customer for going on 9 years and the simplicam has always been 720 max. The Doorbell pro camera is 1080.

Hi all,

For the first few years that we sold the SimpliCam, it was only available in 720p. Recently, we changed the design of the SimpliCam to be the 1080p version that you may have seen advertised. As Captain11 mentioned, though, the Video Doorbell Pro has always been 1080p.

Regarding Visual Verification, it's possible that the agent at COPS may have misunderstood your question. I can assure you that for all cameras that are subscribed to a monitoring plan that includes recordings, the COPS agent will have access to the first 30 seconds of recordings for up to an hour from the time that the alarm was triggered. More information about Video Verification can be found on this page in our Help Center.

Please, do not deflect by stating that Captain 11 says the video doorbell has always been 1080 resolution.  We are not stupid, and we are not talking about your video doorbells.  We are talking about your 720 resolution cameras . . . and you know this!  So, why aren't they 1080 rather than 720?

Your local police department does not see the live video, the dispatch team that calls the police see it.  Supposedly, if you have granted dispatch the availability ability to view your camera (I have), and if they see intruders, they will verify to your police department that intruders have been spotted in / on your premises.  This helps verify that the alarm is definitely not a false alarm.

@sugakuga  my apologies but my intent was not meant to mislead anyone. To the best of my knowledge, my Simplicams were always 720 and the doorbell 1080.

SimpliSafe has done a poor job with their SimpliCam marketing.  The original SimpliCam's were 720p max.  In fact, this is what they offer as a promotion when you buy a new system.  However, if you order a new indoor SimpliCam today and pay for it yourself, they are 1080p max.  I just got one.  Nowhere on the website or box does it say that.  BUT, if you go to Best Buy and look at the retail box it says 1080p.  Goofy.  It's almost false advertising the way they handle this.
